How does JERGENS® Natural Glow® +FIRMING Daily Moisturiser work?

JERGENS® Natural Glow® +FIRMING Daily Moisturiser is designed to be a body moisturiser. It contains the same moisturizing ingredients found in many other JERGENS® lotions (for example, glycerin, petrolatum and mineral oil). It also contains a colour-enhancing complex including dihydroxyacetone, or DHA, and erythrulose to subtly and gradually deepen your natural skin tone in a few days. The formula, infused with collagen, elastin, and ginseng, visibly firms skin, improves skin elasticity and tightens skin.

Does JERGENS® Natural Glow® +FIRMING Daily Moisturiser give the same natural colour as other JERGENS® Natural Glow® Daily Moisturiser?

Yes, JERGENS® Natural Glow® +FIRMING Daily Moisturiser was formulated to provide the same healthy summer glow as other JERGENS® Natural Glow® Daily Moisturisers.

How do the colour-enhancing ingredients work?

Our Research has optimized the combination of Erythrulose and DHA, so that they work together to subtly enhance and gradually deepen your natural skin colour. Both Erythrulose and DHA provide deeper skin colour through chemical reactions, called the Maillard Reaction. However, they deepen skin colour at different rates of change and to different skin colourations. Both ingredients are safe for consumers for topical use.

What is in it? What are the effective ingredients?

JERGENS® Natural Glow® +FIRMING Daily Moisturiser is a great moisturiser containing the same moisturizing ingredients found in many other JERGENS® lotions (for example: glycerin, petrolatum, mineral oil). The formula, containing colour-enhancing ingredients (dihydroxyacetone, or DHA, and erythrulose), begins to subtly and gradually deepen your natural skin tone in a few days with collagen and elastin that are known to help firm skin, improve elasticity and tighten skin.

What are Collagen and Elastin?

The portions of the skin which give skin its structure are made up primarily of the proteins Collagen and Elastin. Collagen gives skin strength, and Elastin gives skin elasticity. Over time as skin ages, the amount of both Collagen and Elastin diminish causing a loss of skin firmness.

Will the colour be natural on my skin?

To provide more natural-looking skin colour than other sunless tanners, which typically contain only DHA, JERGENS® Natural Glow® Firming Daily Moisturisers use a combination of DHA and Erythrulose. And together, they subtly enhance and gradually deepen your natural skin colour. The result is natural-looking colour.

What is the tightening sensation or resistance I feel when I apply JERGENS® Natural Glow® +FIRMING Daily Moisturiser?

This formula in combination with skin +FIRMING polymers spreads across the skin's surface and upon drying gives skin a tighter and smoother look.

When will I start to see colour on my skin?

It will depend on how often you apply the product and how much you use, but if used daily you should start to see colour in as little as three days and a full shade darker in just one week.

Is this an effective moisturiser?

JERGENS® Natural Glow® +FIRMING Daily Moisturiser is a great moisturiser that provides very effective skin hydration. It contains the same moisturizing ingredients found in many other JERGENS® lotions (for example: glycerin, petrolatum, mineral oil).

How often should I apply this product? Can I jump to a darker shade for a quicker effect?

For best results you should apply JERGENS® Natural Glow® +FIRMING Daily Moisturiser every day—a gradual, natural-looking colour will result after about 1 week of continued use. If desired, try a darker formula, but the results may not be as natural looking. 

What happens if I stop using the product? How long will the colour stay on my skin?

If you stop using JERGENS® Natural Glow® +FIRMING Daily Moisturiser, your skin colour will begin to fade in a few days and be completely faded after about one to two weeks.

Why does the colour on my face sometimes not match the colour on my body?

The difference in colour is a result of a variety of factors. To start, facial skin can be thinner than body skin, can exfoliate at a different rate, and is exposed to different environmental conditions than body skin.

How long before I see results with JERGENS® Natural Glow® +FIRMING Daily Moisturiser?

This body lotion instantly hydrates skin, leaving it smooth, healthier-looking and supple. You will begin to see a subtle development of colour within several days and begin to reduce the appearance of cellulite in as little as seven days.

What are the colour-enhancing ingredients?

This product contains Erythrulose and Dihydroxyacetone (DHA). Although DHA is found in common sunless tanners, Erythrulose is not typically found in common sunless tanners. Erythrulose is used in prestige department store brand facial sunless tanning products. JERGENS® Natural Glow® +FIRMING Daily Moisturiser contains a combination of DHA and Erythrulose to provide more natural-looking skin colour than common sunless tanners which typically contain only DHA.

Which formula should I choose?

Using the formula customized for your natural skin tone will ensure the most natural-looking colour. To find your natural skin tone, look at the inside (or underside) of your forearms, since these areas are not typically exposed to the sun.

Refer to the colour charts on the back of the packages and choose the one with a "STARTING POINT" colour that most closely matches your natural skin tone.

Another way to choose your formula is to refer to your favorite facial foundation colour.

If you typically use foundation colours that are fair or (light) medium (for example: Light Ivory, Ivory, Porcelain, Alabaster, Light Beige, Nude), then choose the JERGENS® Natural Glow® +FIRMING Fair to Medium Skin Tones formula.

If you typically use foundation colours that are (darker) medium or tan (for example: Medium Beige, Tan, Caramel), then choose the JERGENS® Natural Glow® +FIRMING Medium to Tan Skin Tones formula.

Will I eventually have to change to a darker shade?

No. Some people have switched to a darker shade with good results after first using a light shade formula. To find the right formula, make sure you're choosing your shade based on your natural skin tone or starting skin tone and the starting shade on the back of the package.

Can I use JERGENS® Natural Glow® +FIRMING Daily Moisturiser on my face?

This product was designed for use on the body. Our FACE formulas are specifically designed for use on facial skin and are perfect complements to the Body formulas.

How long should I wait before I get dressed?

After applying JERGENS® Natural Glow® +FIRMING Daily Moisturiser, allow several minutes for it to dry prior to getting dressed. This will prevent any lotion from rubbing off on clothes and ensure even coverage on the skin.

Can I use another moisturiser with this product?

You may use another lotion with this product; for example, choose JERGENS® Ultra Healing® or JERGENS® Shea Butter Moisturiser. You may mix and match JERGENS® Natural Glow® +FIRMING Daily Moisturiser with any JERGENS® Skincare products. If using two moisturisers at the same time, apply JERGENS® Natural Glow® +FIRMING Daily Moisturiser first and allow it to dry completely.

How can I prevent my elbows and knees from becoming darker than the rest of my skin?

The skin on elbows and knees tends to be drier, with more layers of skin cells. Since the chemical reactions of skin darkening take place in the surface layers of skin, the colour can concentrate in those areas. We suggest that elbows and knees receive a light application of JERGENS® Natural Glow® Daily Moisturiser or you can try JERGENS® Ultra Healing® Extra Dry Skin Moisturiser on the "roughest parts" like knees and elbows first, to smooth the skin.

Can I use different skin tone formulas for my body and face?

Yes, you may use different skin tone formulas for your body and face if you feel using different formulas will provide the best matches for the skin tones of your body and face.

Can I use a sunscreen with this product?

Yes. Just apply it after you use JERGENS® Natural Glow® +FIRMING Daily Moisturiser. JERGENS® Natural Glow® Daily Moisturiser doesn't contain sunscreen and will not protect against sunburn; however JERGENS® Natural Glow® +PROTECT Daily Moisturiser Sunscreens and JERGENS® Natural Glow® FACE Daily Moisturiser Sunscreens are designed to protect skin from daily sun exposure while delivering an optimum amount of naturally glowing colour. And remember that repeated exposure of unprotected skin while tanning may increase the risk of skin aging, skin cancer and other harmful effects to the skin even if you do not burn.

I am not seeing any skin colour change, am I doing something wrong?

Everyone's colour development can be different. Try using a darker formula shade or try one of the JERGENS® Natural Glow® 3 Days to Glow™ Moisturisers. With JERGENS® Natural Glow® 3 Days to Glow™ Moisturisers you will see colour after one use and get a full shade of colour in just three days.

I seem to have an orange colour. What happened?

This is likely from overuse of the product. Try using a lighter shade formula or use less of the product. You may be able to use it every other day instead of daily.

When is the best time to apply?

JERGENS® Natural Glow® +FIRMING Daily Moisturisers can be applied any time of day, but allow 3 hours before exercise, swimming, or showering. For best results apply to freshly cleansed skin. This will help ensure natural-looking even colour.

Will I get too dark? Will the colour be even?

After one week of daily use, your skin should be about one shade darker. Continue to use the product daily or every other day, so that the colour will be maintained and skin tone will remain even. JERGENS® Natural Glow® +FIRMING Daily Moisturiser gradually darkens only the very top layers of your skin. And since the top layers of skin cells naturally exfoliate to expose new skin cells, your skin colour will naturally reach a plateau. Regular use of JERGENS® Natural Glow® +FIRMING Daily Moisturiser ensures evenness of skin colour.

If I use JERGENS® Natural Glow® +FIRMING Daily Moisturiser more than once a day, will I get darker faster?

After one week of daily use, your skin should be about one shade darker. Continue to use the product daily or every other day, so that the colour will be maintained and skin tone will remain even. JERGENS® Natural Glow® +FIRMING Daily Moisturiser gradually darkens only the very top layers of your skin. And since the top layers of skin cells naturally exfoliate to expose new skin cells, your skin colour will naturally reach a plateau. Regular use of JERGENS® Natural Glow® +FIRMING Daily Moisturiser ensures evenness of skin colour.

Can I use this product even in the winter? What shade should I choose?

JERGENS® Natural Glow® +FIRMING Daily Moisturiser can be used all year round. You may find that you should go one shade lighter in the winter or use the shade you normally use in the summer every other day instead of every day. Using the formula customized for your natural skin tone will ensure the most natural-looking colour. Can I use JERGENS® Natural Glow® +FIRMING Daily Moisturiser all over my body?

Yes, JERGENS® Natural Glow® +FIRMING Daily Moisturiser was designed for use on the body and is acceptable for use everywhere that you desire subtly darkened skin.

Should I wash my hands after I apply it? How do I remove stains from my skin?

You should wash your hands to prevent unwanted colour on your palms or potential stains on clothes. If you have any unwanted colour on your skin, it will wear off in a few days or you can use a body or facial scrub to help remove it.

Is this safe to use?

There are no safety concerns besides those associated with typical lotions. The product is intended for external use only. Avoid eye contact. If eye contact occurs, flush thoroughly with water. Do not apply to broken skin. Remember that repeated exposure of unprotected skin while tanning may increase the risk of skin aging, skin cancer and other harmful effects to the skin even if you do not burn.

I notice an odor on my skin from this product? What causes this?

As the product works to darken the skin, some people may develop an unfamiliar smell on their skin. This is part of the skin darkening process. The patent-pending technology in JERGENS® Natural Glow® +FIRMING Daily Moisturiser blocks the smell for the majority of consumers we tested with—however the smell is different from person to person and, for a small group of consumers, they may still perceive a faint scent.

I am an African American with caramel tones. Will this even out my skin tone?

To even out caramel skin tones, try the Medium/Tan formulas for Body and Face.

Will JERGENS® Natural Glow® +FIRMING Daily Moisturiser make me lose weight?

No. This product helps to visibly firm your skin.

What is the shelf life for JERGENS® Natural Glow® products?

Although the JERGENS® Natural Glow® Body Moisturisers do not have expiration dates, the products are best if used within 12 months of opening.

Can I use this in a tanning bed?

We do not recommend using tanning beds in general. We did not test this moisturiser during tanning bed use so we recommend that you do not use it while using the bed.
